During pregnancy and lactation

Tramadol is not prescribed for pregnant women. This condition will affect the fetus in the womb. If taken at the early stage of pregnancy this will result in abortion. A medical testing was done to test the condition during lactation. It is seen that Tramadol penetrates into the breast milk and reaches the infant about 2.88% hence it is strictly advised not to follow this medication during breastfeeding. 

At the time of delivery

It is not recommended to take this analgesic during labor. Due to the long onset action Tramadol releases the significant amount and results in a prolonged action. As the result of this, the patient feels the effect for about one hour. Apart from this when given intra-muscularly to patients at the time of delivery it significantly affects the fetus for about 94%. Hence its use is strongly prohibited at the time of labor and delivery.

Children and elderly

It is not recommended for the usage of children. Children subjected to Ultram experience slow and difficulty in breathing FDA on its safety measures included that it is against law.

Cognitive impairment, depression in respiration and sedation are the effects found in elderly person. 

Adverse effects of using Tramadol
